Drug intelligence / Profile preview
4-[(3R)-3-{[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-oxoethyl]amino}butyl]benzamide is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of alkyl phenylketones. It acts as a potent inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4), an enzyme involved in glucose metabolism and immune regulation. The compound has demonstrated nanomolar inhibitory activity against human DPP4 in biochemical assays, with reported IC50 values around 84 nM. It was developed and studied by Eli Lilly as part of research into DPP4 inhibitors, which are relevant for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus due to their role in prolonging incretin hormone activity and enhancing insulin secretion[1][8]. There is no evidence that this compound has reached clinical development or been marketed.
